Full‑time, 165 scheduled working days during the school year, 8 hours/day, 4‑day school week (Tuesday‑Friday)

Salary range: minimum $17.30/hour; salary dependent on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assisting assigned teachers with instructional and physical student support is a primary responsibility.
  • Delivering instructional activities according to the individual student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and as assigned and developed by certified/licensed staff, including design and implementation of an appropriate learning environment with assistive technologies and multi‑sensory materials.
  • Providing instructional support to help students integrate into general‑education classrooms and communicating with general‑education teachers regarding student needs; imparting life skills such as self‑hygiene and social/emotional skills.
  • Supervising and facilitating sensory and movement rest periods between academic activities to increase student engagement.
  • Assisting the teacher in implementing positive behavior plans and systems appropriate to the individual student.
  • Providing student oversight and supervision during out‑of‑classroom activities, including arrivals and departures, outside breaks, passing periods, and other assigned activities.
  • Communicating with other paraprofessionals and staff to track student movements, schedules, and locations; traveling with a student during transportation if needed.
  • Serving students to provide personal hygienic needs with an expectation of maintaining HIPAA confidentiality and personal dignity. Responsibilities include dispensing medications, meal preparation, feeding, or toileting/diapering.
  • Collecting and reviewing progress on students' work toward IEP goals/objectives with SPED teachers, adjusting as needed to ensure IEP compliance and meet student needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
  • Alternative qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
  • Hold an Associate's or higher degree, or
  • Have a minimum of 48.00 college‑credit hours, or successfully pass the Workforce Center Work Keys test for Reading Information, Mathematics and Business Writing.
