Re-1 Valley School District is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Behavior Para educator to support young learners at the Early Education Center.

Salary$16.56 per hour (based on experience) on the Classified Hourly Salary Schedule
Working Calendar165 days, full-time with benefits, 4‑day school week (Tuesday–Friday)

Job SummaryThe Behavior Para educator provides targeted support to early childhood students with behavioral and social‑emotional needs, assisting in implementing instructional and behavioral strategies under teacher supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group behavioral support.
- Assist students in developing self‑regulation and coping strategies.
- Reinforce positive behaviors and expectations.
- Support inclusion in classroom and school activities.
- Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and IEP goals.
- Use proactive and responsive behavior strategies.
- Assist in crisis prevention and intervention when necessary.
- Maintain consistency with district behavior protocols.
- Assist teachers with instructional activities and classroom management.
- Adapt materials and activities to meet student needs.
- Support student engagement and participation.
- Track and document behavioral incidents and progress.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
- Communicate observations with supervising staff.
- Assist with toileting, hygiene, feeding, and mobility as needed.
- Ensure student safety at all times.
- Follow all health, safety, and mandated reporting requirements.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, special education staff, therapists, and administration.
- Participate in team meetings as requested.
- Maintain professional communication with staff and families.
- Work effectively with students with diverse learning needs.
- Basic understanding of instructional support strategies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
- Follow directions and work under teacher supervision.
- Move throughout school building and classroom.
- Lift up to 30 pounds.
- Assist students with mobility or other support needs if required.
- Successfully pass the Work Keys test (through the Workforce Center) for Reading, Information, Mathematics, and Business Writing, unless candidate holds an Associate’s Degree or higher.
- Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
- Experience working with children or youth.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Hold an Associate's Degree or higher.
- Experience working with students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of behavior support strategies.
- Experience in a school or classroom setting.
- Ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning needs.
- Basic understanding of instructional support strategies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
- Ability to follow directions and work under teacher supervision.
Physical Requirements

- Active supervision of students throughout the school day.
