Nurse III Supervisor – Sterling, CO
Open to Colorado state residents only.

Responsibilities
  • Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner to maintain comprehensive inmate medical records.
  • Deliver patient education, including self‑care techniques and medication side‑effect information.
  • Provide individualized patient care in a clinic, infirmary, or specialized cell house setting.
  • Perform routine and emergency physical and emotional assessments during triage and emergency situations.
  • Promote safety and security in the clinical environment, including contraband control and instrument counting.
  • Manage payroll, scheduling, and performance management plans; coordinate staff orientation, hiring, and shift operations.
  • Recommend and monitor compliance with policies and procedures; act as on‑call supervisor and arrange for coverage or overtime.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current, valid Registered Nurse license from the Colorado Board of Nursing or a state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Three (3) years of full‑time RN experience providing patient care.
Additional Qualification Criteria
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing may substitute for one year of required experience (transcripts required).
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in nursing may substitute for two years of required experience (transcripts required).

  • Effective staff supervision
  • Clinical competence in offender patient care
  • Maintenance of licensure and credentials
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • English language proficiency and clarity in written documents
  • Problem‑solving and critical thinking to resolve issues
  • Creation of accessible documents following plain language guidelines
  • Self‑control and resilience in stressful or potentially violent environments
  • Alertness, emotional stability, and mental resilience throughout shifts
  • Stress tolerance, confinement adaptability, and high‑stakes interaction capability
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year or more of nursing supervisory experience
  • Registered Nurse experience in a correctional environment
