Position Overview
We are seeking one or more Journeyman Linemen located in Sterling, CO. The starting rate of pay is $63.95 per hour.
Job SummaryPerform the duties of lineman classification involving overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities- Perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions, day and night.
- Respond to emergency callouts after normal work hours and on weekends.
- Live within 40 minutes/40 miles of the Sterling Service Center.
- Perform safe, proficient and effective pole‑climbing.
- Self‑motivated and work well with others, maintaining a positive attitude and safety focus.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class A CDL driver’s license and a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
- Completed a qualified apprenticeship program and possession of Journeyman Lineman certification.
- Willingness to live within 40 minutes/40 miles of the Sterling Service Center.
- Well‑rounded knowledge of distribution primary feeder circuits, transformer loading and connections, and fusing practices.
- Experience with electric meter sets and connections.
- Knowledge of hot line tools, protective devices, fuses, lightning arresters, disconnect switches, breakers, grounding sets, transformers and their connections.
- Experience operating line construction and maintenance vehicles such as forklifts, digger‑derricks, platform digger units, wire and rope tensioning units and similar equipment.
- Knowledge and experience in electric distribution system troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with the Safety Rules and regulations of the Company and hazards involved in electric distribution field service work.
- Familiarity with the use of rubber gloves, sleeves, line hose, switching procedures, and PPE in accordance with Company and OSHA requirements.
