Position: (USA) Technician, General Facilities Maintenance

The Technician, General Facilities Maintenance, is responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance and repairs to ensure the safety, functionality, and appearance of facilities and equipment. This role involves diagnosing issues, executing repairs across multiple trades, managing maintenance schedules, and coordinating with contractors while adhering to regulatory standards. The position requires strong technical expertise, effective communication, and a commitment to quality and safety.

By supporting operational efficiency and facility reliability, the technician contributes to a well‑maintained environment that meets business and customer needs.

The Facilities Management team coordinates maintenance, inspections, and resource management to ensure facility quality and safety. They lead special projects, provide technical training, and troubleshoot equipment to maintain efficient operations. By fostering collaboration and sharing expertise, the team drives continuous improvement and adapts to evolving business needs. Their dedication to integrity, safety, and operational excellence supports Walmart’s mission to deliver reliable facility services across locations, ensuring a safe and well‑maintained environment for associates and customers alike.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, functionality, and appearance of facilities, equipment, and fixtures following established schedules and guidelines.
  • Inspect, clean, and repair facilities equipment, diagnosing issues using blueprints, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
  • Conduct major and minor repairs across multiple crafts including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
  • Manage work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractor activities, ensuring compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Document maintenance and repair activities, track parts and equipment orders, and submit warranty claims as needed.
  • Provide expert advice to support continuous improvement and align maintenance efforts with business needs.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in preventive maintenance and facility repair to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
  • Proficiency in electrical diagnostics, wiring, and repairs, including the use of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of plumbing systems and ability to perform minor and major repairs across multiple crafts.
  • Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and compliance standards.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs for accurate troubleshooting and repair.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractor coordination.
  • Commitment to quality workmanship aligned with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Vocational or Technical certification and 3 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related trade; or 5 years' experience in that area.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Eligible for a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical trade program.
  • License in related trade in city and/or state where job is located.
  • Proficiency with intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
