Speech‑Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) – Supporting speech and language services for students, working under the supervision of a licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist.

Job Summary

The SLPA assists in providing therapy services that support student communication development and academic success. The position plays an important role in helping students strengthen speech, language, and communication skills in a supportive educational environment.

Starting at $46,634.19 on the Teacher Salary Schedule.

Position Details

FLSA Status:
Exempt. Work Calendar: 177 scheduled working days (8 hours/day) on a 4‑day school week. FTE: 1.0. Full‑time with benefits.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with professionals to observe, plan, implement, monitor, and facilitate the generalization of oral and written communication skills. Use research‑based and technically sound practices to drive decision‑making and interventions; collaborate with school personnel to develop and modify student intervention strategies.
  • Use a variety of service delivery options and evidence‑based practices and facilitate generalization of communication skills.
  • Manage time, organize material, and communicate with school teams and building and central administrators to effectively manage individual student programs; engage in problem‑solving processes with school‑based teams.
  • Monitor individual progress towards measurable goals and objectives.
  • Share knowledge with individuals and groups concerning communication, language and literacy development.
  • Advocate for the individual's communication needs across a variety of settings.
  • Develop and/or participate in professional enrichment activities to maintain high standards of service delivery.
  • Participate in or utilize specialized services to provide better programming for individuals with complex needs.
  • Comply with Student Support Services and district policies and procedures (e.g., accident reporting).
  • Provide direct and indirect interventions/therapy to students according to their special education Individualized Education Program (IEPs).
Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Speech‑Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech and Hearing Sciences, or a closely related field.
  • Eligible for or holding a Colorado Speech‑Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) authorization.
  • Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist.
Working Conditions
