Sterling, CO. Reporting To:
Shaun Knutson. Compensation: $22.00 - $24.00 / hour.
- Deliver product to customers and Trinidad Benham facilities using combination dry van or hopper trailers.
- Operate truck to deliver and pick up loads as requested by the shipping and receiving department in a safe, efficient, timely, and legal manner.
- Perform daily truck and trailer inspections prior to use.
- Observe and report equipment or mechanical failures immediately.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and electronic logs to maintain accurate records for all trips required under state and federal laws and regulations.
- Maintain expense log with all receipts.
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance, including keeping the tractor clean and communicating with management and maintenance personnel to facilitate repairs.
- Comply with company safety policies and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures, including timely and accurate documentation of required SQF forms.
- Provide support to plant operations as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Shipping Supervisor or Lead.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Commercial Driver License in good standing.
- One year of over‑road experience.
- Knowledge of all applicable DOT and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Basic math skills.
- Effective communication of questions, problems, and reports to co‑workers, supervisors, and management personnel.
- Flexibility to accommodate unscheduled changes in duties and work overtime as needed.
- Ability to obtain a Powered Industrial Truck certification.
- Positive attitude and ability to work well with all levels of personnel.
- Frequently (more than 25% of time) required to stand, walk, use ladders, climb stairs, bend, stoop, reach, push/pull, kneel, and crouch; lift, carry, and move items up to 100 pounds; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; verbally communicate; and hear. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently exposed to a non‑climate‑controlled environment.
- Frequently (more than 25% of time) exposed to dust and loud noise.
- Frequently (more than 75% of time) exposed to machinery and moving parts.
- Personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, hair net, and food safety equipment is required.
- Available for occasional overnight trips and ability to remain alert while driving for periods up to 11 hours.
