Position SummaryThis role performs a wide range of duties related to the origination of residential mortgage loans for branch offices and outside referrals, including meeting standards and objectives defined by management for personal mortgage loan sales and cross‑selling objectives. The team leader is responsible for the residential mortgage loan from application to closing on personal production and oversees the overall production of the team, managing each Loan Originator (LO) and partnering with fulfillment operations to drive closed volume.

- Manages and develops a team of professionals in a customer‑centric culture to excel in a fast‑paced environment.
- Coaches, develops and conducts performance management activities with direct and indirect reports.
- Identifies high‑potential employees for advanced training and development opportunities.
- Effectively manages poor performers and maintains a high‑performance team.
- Manages a team of at least 1 Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) or Jr. Mortgage Loan Originator.
- Develops and nurtures relationships with referral sources to generate new business opportunities.
- Cultivates a sales‑focused culture within the team and contributes to the development of effective marketing strategies.
- Fosters compliance and ethical sales practices.
- Generates annual production in excess of $20 million and manages personal and team production to achieve monthly goals.
- Conducts business plan reviews with sales team and builds strategic and tactical plans for volume growth.
- Participates in sales calls with Loan Originators and identifies opportunities for system and procedural improvements.
- Ensures loan originators comply with state and federal regulations and bank policies.
- Monitors quality levels of loan originators to ensure adherence to standards and serves as an intermediary for loan issues.
- Provides support at bank‑sponsored events.
- Requires occasional travel for training, team meetings, and location work within the market.
- May require work in a Midland office to support internal and external customers.
- Maintains compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, real estate, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience leading teams with demonstrated success in coaching and motivating team members.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate/mortgage sales.
- NMLS State License or Federal NMLS Registration.
- Strong entrepreneurial and business development/sales experience.
- Knowledge of FHA, FNMA and FHLMS underwriting guidelines and mortgage compliance regulations.
- Business acumen and judgment regarding bank mortgage products, policies, and procedures.
- Needs analysis skills – evaluating customer income, debts, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal, persuasive, influencing and negotiation skills.
- In-depth knowledge of conventional, government, and portfolio guidelines.
- Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
- Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Salary Range$50,200 annually + variable compensation package.
Location RequirementSupports the Rockford and Northern Region, including Lee County, and requires candidates to reside in or be willing to regularly work within this market.
