Extraction Technician

The Extraction Technician is responsible for the production of cannabis extracts and products; extracting, refining, and purifying cannabinoids removed from plant material into concentrated forms using various solvents. The extraction technician may also assist in the filling and packaging of medical cannabis derived products, as well as cleaning, logging, and maintaining laboratory equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely and effectively perform all methods of cannabis extraction, winterization, filtration, ethanol recovery and distillation in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare and operate equipment for processing, including but not limited to an extractor, solvent reclamation, and extract refinement.
  • Prepare formulations according to batch records and assist in other formulation‑related tasks assigned by the Extraction Manager.
  • Perform inventory control actions, including weighing, labeling, packaging, product logging, and recording all measurable data in accordance with state regulations.
  • Adhere to quality control SOPs regarding procedural operations and quality of product produced; verify quality control standards are being met throughout the process.
  • Maintain a clean, compliant, and safe work environment; report any compliance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Meet daily goals, extraction objectives, and KPIs set by management.
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned by the Extraction Manager.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or related sciences preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of laboratory and/or production experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, maintain a positive attitude, and provide exemplary focus and attention to detail.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete assignments within prescribed routines and standard practices.
  • Must be of the minimum age required by state regulations.
  • Ability to pass state‑mandated background checks.
  • Ability to understand and apply basic laboratory terminology and concepts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and follow complex written, verbal, and technical instructions.

Schedule
  • Available to work Monday‑Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm ET, with flexibility for mandatory overtime as required to meet business needs.
  • Subject to change as business needs.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Manufacturing environment requiring extended standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to carry up to 50 lbs for up to 100 ft may be required.
  • Repeat arm/hand movements necessary to pack items.
  • Ability to manipulate small objects and use arms, hands, and fingers repetitively.
  • Work in a range of hot and cold temperature extremes.
  • Must wear provided or required PPE including lab coat/coveralls, hair/beard nets, gloves, surgical masks, safety glasses, goggles, splash shield, etc. while working in the laboratory.
