Role Description The Staff Accountant role at Ceiba Routes is a full-time, on-site position based in Sterling, VA. The Staff Accountant will perform daily accounting activities, including recording journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. This role will reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts, process invoices and expense reports, and support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
The Staff Accountant will assist in preparing financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules, helping ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. The role will also support internal and external audits, help implement process improvements, and collaborate with operations and leadership to provide financial insights that support business decisions.### Qualifications
* Strong foundation in general accounting principles, including experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
* Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Net Suite, or similar), along with solid skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
* Ability to analyze financial data, identify variances, and prepare clear, accurate reports and schedules.
* Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with finance, operations, and leadership teams.
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
* Prior experience in transportation, logistics, or a similar operationally focused industry is preferred but not required.
* Commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, and continuous improvement in accounting processes and controls.
