Construction Manager/ Foreman
Christman Mid Atlantic Constructors, LLC is a leading construction firm with projects throughout the mid‑Atlantic. We are hiring a Civil Superintendent for our DC Metro region. The role ensures safe working conditions and proper application of safety policies at the job site.
Responsibilities- Oversee technical interpretation of construction documents and drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment.
- Ensure consistency with contractual specifications and requirements.
- Recommend or evaluate construction options and efficiencies.
- Establish project site expectations for safety, quality, unforeseen conditions, housekeeping, and general conduct.
- Responsible for project safety, including inspections, TAGs, pre‑task analysis, and interface with the safety team.
- Ensure appropriate safety training and awareness are occurring daily.
- Discuss relevant safety topics with trade contractors on a weekly basis, or more frequently if needed.
- Address safety offenses immediately to clarify expectations and reinforce safety commitments.
- Report and investigate accidents and safety incidents, coordinating with the safety team for appropriate action.
- Verify, authorize, and ensure the timely completion of timesheets for trade contractors and company employees, including extra work on a time‑and‑material basis.
- Plan and coordinate site logistics, including traffic patterns, equipment locations, and storage and staging.
- Ensure Christman Mid‑Atlantic Constructors is represented daily at project sites, setting expectations and maintaining commitments.
- Partner with project managers, clients, and trade contractors to develop a work plan. Coordinate the project team’s preparation for upcoming work through progress meetings.
- Plan and coordinate the initiation, momentum, and completion of all trade contract work according to the project schedule.
- Establish sequence, phasing, and pace of work with trade foremen to achieve schedule milestones.
- Set quality expectations with trade foremen before installation (pre‑bid, post‑bid, and pre‑installation meetings).
- Arrange pre‑installation coordination meetings for all work areas involving overlapping trades.
- Authorize purchase requisitions for materials, equipment, and labor as agreed with project management before project startup or for emergency situations.
- Complete thorough daily reports of progress, concerns, challenges, weather, and safety inspections.
- Continuously assess and analyze the project’s status against goals, develop contingency plans, and revise construction strategy as required.
Full‑time position. Extended hours and weekends may apply. Travel to and from the construction site is required, with most travel local but some long‑distance and overnight travel possible depending on the project.
Qualifications Required- Seven (7) or more years of work experience in construction or a related field.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Procore, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Microsoft Project.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related coursework, plus two years of supervisory experience.
- OSHA 30‑hour certification.
