Summary
Our ideal Estimator is responsible for developing conceptual, detailed estimates during the preconstruction process. With a minimum 5 years’ experience as an estimator in commercial construction, the Estimator will be able to read and understand project plans and understand construction methods for both base building and tenant interiors projects. The Estimator will be responsible for site and building take offs, manage and control the bidding process, and provide support for the business development process.

Responsibilities- Develop conceptual estimates, detailed estimates, and future project estimate budgets with minimal information.
- Correspond professionally with development, design, and engineering for a clear understanding of the project scope.
- Anticipate the location of project utilities based on information obtained from site visits.
- Coordinate with other departments within the company to gain input on estimates.
- Accurately take off quantities of architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, and landscape drawings for both base building and tenant interior projects.
- Review drawings and specifications.
- Attend project site visits and pre-bid meetings.
- Answer questions from bidding subcontractors and discuss construction standards.
- Ensure each bid is delivered on time with all RFP requirements identified.
- Work on concurrent project estimates and meet estimating deadlines.
- Assemble bid packages and coordinate the bid activities.
- Send out new bid opportunities through online drawing/bid sites for subcontractor coverage.
- Develop estimating trends and monitor escalation of cost and geographic factors that affect cost of our projects.
- Identify, recruit, screen, and qualify potential subcontractors and vendors.
- Lead the development and maintenance of an organized documentation of cost history establishing cost breakdowns to support preliminary cost estimating.

QualificationsAbility to read and interpret Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Landscape drawings; ability to read and interpret Geotechnical, Environmental, and other associated consultant reports necessary to projects; skilled at handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with a reputation for being accurate, responsive, and well organized; strong self‑starter with excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills within cross‑functional teams; ability to set and meet deadlines;
strong accounting skills; strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills; strong communication and client‑service skills.
B.S. degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or another related discipline strongly preferred.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial general contracting estimation.
