JOIN A HIGH-PROFILE DATA CENTER PROJECT

We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager with strong steel erection expertise to provide full-time, on-site safety leadership for a large-scale data center construction project in Sterling, Virginia.

This is a fast-moving, field-focused assignment requiring a confident safety professional who understands the hazards associated with steel erection, elevated work, material handling, and simultaneous construction operations.

The selected contractor will work directly with project leadership, field supervision, trade partners, and craft personnel to identify hazards, reinforce safe work practices, and maintain compliance with OSHA, client, and site-specific safety requirements.

Local candidates and professionals able to work in Sterling without per diem.

Compensation

Contractor Rate: $50-$55 per hour

Overtime: Paid at 1.3x the base rate for hours worked over 40

Pay Frequency: Weekly

Per Diem: Not available

PROJECT SCHEDULE

Hours: Approximately 50-60 hours per week

Schedule: Monday-Friday, with Saturdays as needed

Shift: Day Shift

Candidates must be prepared to support extended hours as project activity and site demands increase.

PROJECT SCOPE

The Safety Manager will serve as the primary safety resource for active steel erection operations on a large-scale data center construction site.

This individual will maintain a consistent field presence, monitor ongoing work, identify unsafe conditions and behaviors, and work with site leadership to implement immediate corrective actions.

Key Areas Of Oversight May Include
  • Steel erection and structural assembly activities
  • Fall protection and elevated work
  • Crane, rigging, and material-handling operations
  • Aerial lifts and mobile equipment
  • Controlled access zones and restricted work areas
  • Pre-task planning and job hazard analysis
  • Contractor and trade-partner compliance
  • Simultaneous operations in a fast-paced construction environment
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor daily field activities for compliance with OSHA, client, and project-specific safety requirements
  • Conduct routine jobsite inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
  • Provide direct safety oversight for steel erection activities
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventive measures
  • Review pre-task plans, job hazard analyses, and high-risk work activities
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and field training
  • Support incident reporting, investigations, root-cause analysis, and follow-up actions
  • Partner with project management, field supervision, subcontractors, and craft personnel
  • Track safety observations, corrective actions, incidents, and leading indicators
  • Maintain accurate and timely safety documentation and reports
  • Reinforce accountability while promoting a proactive, solutions-focused safety culture
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • OSHA 500 and/or OSHA 511 Certification
  • Proven experience supporting steel erection projects
  • Construction safety management experience on active commercial or industrial projects
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements
  • Experience conducting site audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Working knowledge of fall protection, elevated work, rigging, cranes, and material handling
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project leadership and field personnel
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and follow-through skills
  • Availability to work 50-60 hours per week and Saturdays when required
Preferred Experience
  • Data center or mission-critical construction experience
  • Experience managing safety across multiple trades and simultaneous operations
  • Strong understanding of steel erection planning and high-risk activity controls
  • Demonstrated ability to influence field performance and drive corrective action
