Yournext opportunity
The Engineer I is an entry-level engineering position and is expected to learn and develop competency in the Essential Duties and Responsibilities. You will provide technical engineering design, consultation, information, and assistance to internal and external customers under the direct supervision of the Engineering Team Lead or Manager to ensure project compliance with engineering standards.
What you'll do- Oversee or collaborate with Designers assigned to your work or team.
- Review, comment, and process equipment and system submittals.
- Coordinate between civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, operations, field team, and all electrical trades.
- Prepare designs, check, and specify power, lighting, and auxiliary systems for PV, DG, BESS, or MV systems.
- Develop power single-line diagrams; develop and model short circuits and overcurrent protection device coordination studies.
- Assist with feeder schedules, determine cable losses, and model energy production under supervision of a senior engineer.
- Coordinate work with project specifications or equipment manufacturers.
- Visit job sites to field survey existing electrical conditions under supervision.
- Become familiar with engineering analysis programs to analyze loads, lighting levels, and short circuit currents under supervision.
- Participate in project team meetings; interface with team members, architects, subcontractors, and engineers from other trades.
- Work closely with the engineering supervisor to understand design criteria and budgetary issues.
- Assist in drawing interpretation, resolving conflicts, interferences, and errors.
- Assist with the review of plans and technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates under supervision of a senior engineer.
- Assist senior engineers with field observations, design interpretations, and design updates during construction.
- This position's duties are a general outline; additional responsibilities may be assigned based on role within the business unit.
- Ability to learn engineering analytic programs for short circuits, overcurrent coordination, and arc flash mitigation (e.g., SKM, ETap); develop familiarity with codes and energy efficiency requirements.
- Ability to learn AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Map3D, Autodesk Civil3D, Google Earth, PVsyst, PVcase, Microsoft Office, and illuminance software.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under supervision.
- Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
- Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position.

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, architectural engineering, construction sciences, or equivalent experience.
- Currently pursuing Engineering in Training from NCEES.
- Combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Up to 10% travel (local field visits not included).
- General indoor work environment with varying conditions; long periods of sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending; possible loud noise on job sites.
- ADA compliance and reasonable accommodation measures.
- Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
