Job Summary:
The Systems Engineer designs, engineers, and documents integrated electronic security systems, communications equipment, network infrastructure, and associated support systems for enterprise customers. Serve as the technical authority for system architecture, configuration management, and quality assurance across the project lifecycle. Provide technical expertise and pre- and post-sale design support to sales, installation, service, and maintenance teams, ensuring all solutions meet relevant codes, customer requirements, manufacturer specifications, and internal company standards.
Responsibilities:
- Develop system architecture, engineering designs, and integration approaches for enterprise electronic security systems, including access control, intrusion detection, CCTV and video surveillance, alarm systems, communications equipment, and related network infrastructure.
- Provide post-sale engineering support to installation, service, and technician teams during commissioning, diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, software, and network problems.
- Program, configure, test, and validate security devices and system integrations to confirm proper functioning, interoperability, and compliance with design specifications.
- Examine hardware and software systems to locate and correct configuration problems, applying troubleshooting principles and manufacturer specifications.
- Evaluate new products, technologies, industry standards, and engineering principles, and make recommendations regarding standardization and adoption.
- Train and provide technical guidance to technician, service, sales, and marketing teams.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and network related problems that affect system performance and end users of the network.
- Ensure all work and designs are in accordance with relevant codes, customer requirements, manufacturer specifications, and internal company standards.
- Coordinate with project leadership, manufacturer representatives, and other professional service resources on unusual or complex technical challenges.
- Perform a variety of related duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
Education, Experience & Skills:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
- A minimum of seven years of experience related to the job duties of this position is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Industry and manufacturer certifications relevant to integrated security systems and network infrastructure are strongly preferred.
Technical Expertise:
- Access control systems (Lenel, CCURE, Genetec, AMAG, Avigilon, or similar)
- Video Management Systems (VMS)
- Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
- Network infrastructure and IP-based systems
- System integration and commissioning
Language Skills:
- Communicates effectively in both oral and written communications.
- Communicates with supervisors, peers, subordinates, and other Company staff, working as part of a team contributing to Company goals.
- Communicates with customers and work site personnel effectively and respectfully.
- Produces clear, professional engineering documentation and technical correspondence.
Reasoning Ability:
Job requires careful attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions drawing upon experience, research, and input from peers.
