The Automation Control Expert will be responsible for the design, reliability, optimization, governance, and global implementation of automation and control systems for overseas data centers. This role will work closely with local Facility Managers (FM) and Facility Engineers (FE) to advance the development of IDC control systems from monitoring to automated control, ensuring the reliable and stable operation of critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the reliability and availability of operational data integration for BMS/EPMS systems across overseas data centers.
- Coordinate local FM/FE teams to develop, audit, and continuously maintain CMDB topology diagrams.
- Coordinate local teams to conduct EMS data-point discovery, integration, governance, and optimization.
- Work with local FM/FE teams to develop and implement alarm consolidation strategies, EOP integration, and contingency execution procedures, including conducting drills and exercises.
- Evaluate and optimize automation and control technologies. Develop standardized technical solutions for recurring or similar issues.
- Lead automation-related risk assessments, change reviews, operations and maintenance technology optimization evaluations, maintenance reviews, and global technical inspections.
- Drive the global implementation of key automation and control technologies across data centers to ensure the reliability and proper operation of automated equipment control systems.
- Supervise vendor activities related to on-site changes and modifications, and be responsible for system deployment, commissioning, operation, optimization, and control strategy configuration.
- Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation/Control Engineering, HVAC, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, including at least 3 years of experience in data center operations management, facility engineering, or quality engineering.
- Strong understanding of automation and control system architectures and operating logic, with the ability to identify and implement control logic optimization measures.
- Familiarity with BMS/EPMS systems and critical data center infrastructure equipment. Proficiency in mainstream communication protocols, including Modbus, BACnet, SNMP, MQTT, and similar protocols.
- Demonstrated ability in system deployment, commissioning, operation, optimization, and control strategy configuration. Programming or scripting skills, such as Python or Shell, are preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese, with the ability to independently conduct technical communications at overseas sites and prepare technical documentation in English.
- Strong cross-functional, cross-team, and cross-cultural collaboration skills, with excellent execution and a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
- Ability to work closely with local FM/FE teams to drive the implementation and development of IDC control systems, advancing the transition from monitoring-based systems to automated control.
- Completion rate of topology diagrams, inventory accuracy, and timeliness of synchronizing equipment changes.
- Coverage rate of validation rules, CMDB inventory accuracy, and quality pass rate for EMS data-point integration.
- Completion rate of data-point integration, alarm activation rate, and alarm health metrics, including alarm consolidation and false alarm rates.
- Implementation rate of automation technology optimization solutions, closure rate for identified risks, and corrective action completion rate for global technical inspection findings.
- Coverage rate of alarm consolidation strategies, completion rate of contingency drills, and compliance rate for EOP integration and execution.
- Completion rate of regional implementation plans and coverage rate of standardized documentation, including topology diagram standards and data-point integration standards.
- Compliance rate for vendor change and modification activities and response/resolution time for colocation (Colo) technical issues.
- Completion rate of training materials and certification pass rate for local team technical skills.
