Overview
The Finance Manager oversees the day-to-day financial operations of Galilee United Methodist Church. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring fiduciary accountability, supporting the Finance Committee, and assisting with stewardship and capital campaigns. The Business Manager ensures that all financial practices align with church policies, best accounting standards, and the mission of Galilee United Methodist Church.
Responsibilities Financial Management and Accounting (Approx.60%)
- Maintain accurate and timely accounting records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and church policies
- Manage all financial functions including
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Payroll processing
- General ledger maintenance
- Monthly income statements and balance sheets
- Bank and online giving accounts
- Investment and tax reporting
- Individual contribution records
- Ensure fiduciary responsibility through:
- Regular financial reporting to leadership and Finance Committee
- Payroll tax reporting and compliance
- Benefits coordination
- Loan and lease administration
- Budget development and coordination
- Responsible for Conference and District Reporting in Unity Web
- Virginia Annual Conference Reporting and Unity Web records maintenance
- Annual audit preparation and coordination
- Banking and investment account management
- Coordinate the counting, recording, and depositing of offering income
- Assist in the development and ongoing monitoring of the church budget
- Be available for Finance Committee meeting and available to Church members who have or need assistance with giving or questions related to finances
- Assist in coordinating annual stewardship and capital campaigns
- Provide financial tracking, reporting, and administrative support related to campaigns
- Assist with other administrative functions as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor

- Minimum of 5 years of financial administration experience; CPA preferred

- Intermediate proficiency in Quickbooks, Microsoft Word and Excel; basic Windows, data entry, and email skills
- Ability to function effectively in a team environment
- Ability to multitask and manage frequent interruptions
- Commitment to the mission and ministry of Galilee United Methodist Church
- Strong interpersonal Skills to be able to work with a diverse congregation and staff persons
Job Type: Part-time, Approx 25 – 30 hrs per week
