Responsibilities

  • Researches and resolves invoices that are incomplete and unable to be billed.
  • Performs timely collection of payment for assigned accounts.
  • Prepares time & material billings for submission to customers.
  • Ensures that billing records are accurate and up to date.
  • Assists in achieving and maintaining corporate goals with respect to billing metrics.
  • Reviews data, reports and identifies issues.
  • Takes necessary steps to communicate or resolve issues with customers and operations teams.
  • Develops and maintains rapport with billing specialist counterparts at General Contractor or customer to ensure timely payment.
  • Collects lien releases as required and maintains an accurate and up‑to‑date log of jobs requiring releases.
  • Works with A/R Specialist and credit to facilitate collections.
  • Reviews billing status of ongoing projects to ensure month‑end cutoff dates are met.
  • Generates and reviews various reports and reconciliations for the billing department.
  • Performs general clerical duties including copying, faxing, mailing, and filing.
  • Interfaces with project team to investigate and resolve issues to ensure jobs are billed accurately and within the appropriate time frames.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or business‑related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a billing‑related role in a construction setting.
  • Experience with accounting/billing and Cost Plus Billing preferred.
  • Combination of education, training, and relevant experience acceptable.
Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with operations and other departments in finance.
  • Adapt quickly to new invoicing procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.);
    Oracle preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
  • Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive and effective team player.
  • Professional interaction with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.

Working Conditions

General work environment: sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions, such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is typically low to medium; it can be loud on a job site. Occasional lifting up to 30lbs.
