Position: HR Generalist (Bilingual)

Position Summary

The HR Generalist plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, with a primary focus on employee relations, benefits administration, and retirement/401(k) programs. This position is responsible for serving as a resource to employees and managers, including a bilingual workforce, ensuring compliance, and supporting a positive and productive workplace culture.

The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of HR best practices, demonstrated experience owning benefits and employee relations, the ability to effectively communicate in both English and Spanish, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to HR support.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, providing HR support and guidance in both English and Spanish, and promoting a positive and inclusive work environment
  • Assists employee relations activities, including handling complaints, conducting investigations, documenting findings, and recommending effective solutions
  • Provides coaching and guidance to managers on employee performance, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and corrective action processes
  • Assists and administers employee benefits programs, including health insurance, leave programs, and 401(k)/retirement plans, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of employee inquiries
  • Communicates benefits, policies, and HR programs clearly to employees in both English and Spanish, as needed
  • Coordinates open enrollment and manages benefits-related communications, system updates, and data audits
  • Supports training delivery and employee communication for a bilingual workforce
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, such as FMLA, ADA, and EEO
  • Assists in developing and communicating HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistent application across all departments
  • Maintains and updates HR systems, including HRIS and timekeeping systems, while generating reports to support decision-making
  • Partners with the HR team to identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned to support HR and business operations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Three to five (3–5) years of HR experience in a generalist role, with a strong emphasis on benefits administration and employee relations, preferably in the construction or industrial industry
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) — required
  • Strong working knowledge of employee benefits, including health plans and 401(k)/retirement programs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Proven problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR
  • Experience in the construction industry or a similar fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with training program development and delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to manage compliance with state and federal employment laws and regulations
