Network Engineer

Clearance: TS/SCI Poly. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities- Engineer, install, operate, and maintain WAN/MAN/LAN network interfaces, datacenter network, and other communication systems.
- Work with leadership, Platform and Operations Teams, and Mission Partners to design and integrate network segmentation, load balancing, interface controls, and cloud networking.
- Perform operational and maintenance activities including performance testing, network/Cloud troubleshooting and tuning.
- Utilize network/satellite monitoring tools and scripts to analyze communications links, identify architecture or provider issues, and resolve performance problems.
- Compose technical documents such as design, deployment, system specifications, baseline updates, user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, reports, network maps, and communications architecture.
- Continuously assess new technologies and best practices (e.g., Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV)) for innovative technical insertion.
- Prepare technical proposals for presentation to sponsor engineering review boards prior to adding new technologies.
- Provide design, development, and integration support to Platform and Operations teams.
- Plan network configurations for integration into the existing network, ensuring effective integration and optimal performance.
- Operate and maintain network hardware and software, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support to users and IT operations.
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, and network security protocols.
- Knowledge of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls), operating systems, and network management tools.
- Problem‑solving skills and ability to diagnose and resolve network issues.
- Communication and documentation skills for conveying technical information and documenting network configurations.
- Familiarity with cloud networking services and technologies.
- Expertise in network security best practices and tools.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automating network tasks.
- Experience with wireless networking design and implementation.
- Ability to analyze network performance and implement optimization strategies.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- CompTIA Network+
- Microsoft Certified:
Azure Network Engineer Associate - Certified Network Defender (CND)
