ProjectManager III Overview
Project Manager III is a subject matter expert in project management and is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of projects of variant scope. This role is a recognized and seasoned resource/mentor for less senior project management roles.
What You'll Do- Act as a mentor to Project Assistants, Project Manager I, and/or Project Manager II as an individual contributor.
- Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate boundaries, and articulate them in clear, concise work statements for the field.
- Negotiate and supervise the preparation of all change orders on the project.
- Serve as the principal liaison with the primary client and A/E to facilitate construction activities. Under the direction of the Sr. Project Manager, support construction activities with the onsite Foreman and Area Superintendent to ensure the project is built on schedule and within budget.
- Anticipate and prevent potentially serious situations, implementing corrective measures within company guidelines.
- Represent the company/project in meetings with clients, subcontractors, and others.
- Prepare monthly costing reports.
- Manage financial aspects of contracts (progress billing, rental equipment, income/expenses) to protect the company's interests and maintain a good client relationship.
- Develop new business opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
- PE license a plus.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in project management, preferably in electrical construction, with knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment, and methods.
- Combination of education, training, and relevant experience acceptable.
- Proven experience mentoring and managing others.
- Business development or heavy client interaction a plus.
- Understanding and adherence to standard operating policies and procedures.
- Professional performance and appearance.
- Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and preferred Oracle and Accubid knowledge.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
- Resilience under pressure and adaptability with a positive attitude.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Self‑motivation, proactivity, and effective teamwork.
- Professional interaction with all employee levels, vendors, clients, and others.
- Up to 25%
- General work environment – primarily on active construction sites, with activity including sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending.
- Noise level typically low to medium; it can be loud on a job site.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
