Regulatory Compliance Specialist
EHS Manager
This position involves leading environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs within a high-tech manufacturing and R&D environment. The EHS Manager oversees compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, promotes safety culture, and supports operational excellence. The role requires strategic leadership, program development, and risk management to ensure a safe and sustainable workplace.
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS systems ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO 9001, and other relevant standards.
Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal processes.
Lead site safety initiatives, injury prevention programs, and operational safety excellence efforts.
Conduct risk assessments, root cause investigations, and process safety reviews to identify and mitigate hazards.
Oversee accident, near-miss, and incident investigations, recommending corrective actions and tracking resolutions.
Create and maintain site-specific EHS policies, procedures, and training materials.
Manage contractor safety programs, onboarding, and site orientation procedures.
Perform regular EHS audits, monitor performance indicators, and implement improvement initiatives.
Develop and deliver safety training programs, fostering a culture of environmental and safety awareness.
Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulatory reporting requirements, such as stormwater and air emissions.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Occupational/Industrial Safety, or related field;
Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety management within manufacturing or R&D environments.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related regulatory standards.
Proven leadership skills, with ability to influence stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
Experience managing environmental permits, conducting safety audits, and developing safety programs.
Certification such as CSP, OSHA 30/501/2015 courses, and other relevant safety certifications required.
Proficiency with EHS management software, audit tools, and safety management systems.
Due to the nature of this federal contract, candidates must meet all applicable government contracting eligibility requirements, which may include U.S. citizenship, security clearance eligibility, or other contract-specific requirements.
Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment, with flexibility for travel between multiple sites within VA and other states.
