Harris is seeking a Logistics Engineer Senior Specialist to support sustainment, training, and logistics operations for a diverse product portfolio in our Sterling VA location. The selected candidate will perform Integrated Product Support (IPS) activities such as asset management, obsolescence mitigation, Packing, Handling, Storage, and Transportation (PHS&T), and lifecycle sustainment planning. This role contributes to program success by improving logistics processes, supporting system readiness, and ensuring timely material availability for mission and training needs.
Working with general oversight, the Logistics Engineer Senior Specialist will partner with program management, systems engineering, supply chain, integrators, and training teams to support complex programs and sustainment objectives. The role includes providing logistics subject matter expertise, supporting workflow improvements, coordinating material movement across multiple facilities, managing sensitive program equipment, physically moving material by hand, and contributing to proposal development activities.
This position is ideal for a highly organized logistics professional with strong analytical skills and experience supporting DoD or similar technical programs.
Essential Functions- Oversee Packing, Handling, Storage, and Transportation (PHS&T) activities to minimize delays and errors, enhance system availability, and reduce lifecycle cost.
- Manage, track, and close out product shipments to and from customer sites, depot locations, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
- Maintain PHS&T inventory, including packing materials and shipping supplies, and coordinate replenishment as needed.
- Support asset management activities, including audits of customer-owned or company-owned assets and support equipment.
- Coordinate calibration and repair service requests for applicable assets and equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, Integrated Product Team Leads (IPTLs), customers, and program leadership to support logistics and sustainment requirements.
- Execute depot-related activities in accordance with guidance from the Program Management Office (PMO) and/or IPTL.
- Support obsolescence, sustainment, and lifecycle logistics activities for assigned programs.
- Organize, prioritize, and complete assigned work to meet deadlines and program requirements.
- Analyze issues, identify root causes, and support effective problem resolution.
- Perform precision assembly, alignment, or qualification of opto-mechanical assemblies or technical hardware, as required by program needs.
Ability to lift 45 lbs.
