Travel ICU RN – Sterling, Illinois
Job Details: 13‑week travel assignment in Sterling, Illinois. This role is for an ICU Registered Nurse who will provide comprehensive critical care in a high‑acuity environment.
Responsibilities- Assess and monitor critically ill patients, recognizing and responding to subtle changes in condition.
- Administer complex medications and treatments in accordance with approved critical‑care nursing techniques.
- Operate and manage advanced life‑support equipment.
- Perform and interpret advanced hemodynamic monitoring—including arterial lines, central venous pressure, and pulmonary artery catheters.
- Record significant conditions, reactions, and interventions, notifying appropriate providers of changes in patient status.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding the ICU environment, treatments, and recovery expectations.
- Communicate closely with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care.
- Maintain proficiency in critical care procedures and technologies through ongoing education and training.
- Adhere to strict infection control protocols and hospital safety guidelines.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope.
- One year of recent experience as an ICU RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) and ACLS (AHA/ARC) certifications.
- Preferred:
Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification. - Preferred: TNCC, NIHSS certification.
- Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication.
- Excellent English reading, writing, and verbal communication.
- Proficiency in PC skills.
- Physical ability to remain stationary, move, lift 50‑100 lbs, push or pull equipment.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of personnel, demonstrating a positive attitude and professionalism.
- Ability to perform fine manipulation, assist in procedures, and use equipment.
- Ability to cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, and work with irregular activity schedules.
