Information Review and Release Analyst – SME Nightwing seeks a part-time (24 hours per week) Information Review and Release Analyst (Subject Matter Expert) in the Herndon, VA area to support a dynamic Intelligence Community office. The role involves reviewing and thoroughly researching the substance and overall context of select documents and making the appropriate red actions electronically and/or manually based on the criteria of Executive Order (EO) 13526, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act (PA).
The analyst must apply critical-thinking skills, accurately use customer systems and tools, and record decisions with legally defined exemption codes.
- Reviews and redacts equities within classified documents, records and files in accordance with established standard operating procedures, workflows, and policies.
- Submits requests to the scanning team to scan documents needed for research.
- Submits requests to the search team for initial data searches relevant to the case.
- Assists with training newly hired search team members, as requested.
- Collaborates with supervisory client points of contact to recommend and implement process improvements, workflow changes, and standard operating procedure updates.
- Provides a rationale for red actions using legally defined exemption codes, recommends release of documents, and records decisions in the appropriate system.
- Researches previous release decisions to ensure accuracy and consistency in recommendations.
- Identifies Other Government Agency (OGA) equities involved in the case and ensures they are prepared for referral or coordination.
- Works an eight-hour shift between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday‑Friday.
- Provides surge support outside of normal office hours for short‑fused emergent requests. TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required on Day 1.
- Bachelor's degree and/or high school diploma with relevant years of experience specific to the required skills.
- Demonstrated critical‑thinking skills when evaluating each unique case.
- Ability to apply a broad array of customer systems and tools to inform the review and release process.
- Excellent time‑management and collaboration skills; consistently delivers high‑quality, accurate work.
- Willingness to perform ad‑hoc duties as needed and explore creative ideas for process improvement.
- Knowledge of Executive Order (EO) 13526, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act (PA).
- TS/SCI clearance with polygraph day 1.
