Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Sterling, Virginia.
Benefits- Hourly Pay: $28.00 per hour
- Sign On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
- Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter – four times per year
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, Weekends OFF - Hours:
10:00 am – 7:30 pm - Annual Merit Pay Increases Every Year

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or Technical Certification or Post‑Secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required areas preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A preferred
- This position requires you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
- Obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- Pass an additional employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or background requirements of the customer as needed
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Carry out standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance and diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
- Identify root cause of basic failures or conditions and perform required repairs
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including but not limited to Service Island support
