Role DescriptionThe Commercial HVAC Service Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Sterling, VA. The technician will diagnose and troubleshoot commercial HVAC systems, perform scheduled preventive maintenance, and complete repairs on a variety of equipment such as rooftop units, split systems, and chillers as applicable. Daily responsibilities include responding to service calls, identifying root causes of system issues, replacing or repairing components, and documenting all work performed in service reports.
The role also involves communicating clearly with customers and internal teams to explain findings, recommend solutions, and ensure a positive service experience. The technician is expected to follow all safety protocols, maintain tools and company vehicles in good condition, and participate in ongoing training as needed.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose, analyze, and resolve issues with commercial HVAC systems.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC maintenance & repair, including performing inspections, component replacements, and system adjustments.
- Proficiency in preventive maintenance practices to optimize equipment performance, extend system life, and reduce downtime.
- Commitment to customer satisfaction, with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully at job sites.
- Current EPA certification (or ability to obtain) for handling refrigerants in compliance with regulations.
- Relevant technical training or certification in HVAC, refrigeration, or a related field; apprenticeship or trade school experience is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable attendance, and capability to work on-site in varying weather and physical conditions (including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces).
- Strong safety mindset, time management skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a field service team.
