Irrigation Technician (Backflow Certified Required)Location: Hydro-Tech Irrigation – Sterling, VA (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly
Pay: $22–$28/hour + Bonus Opportunities
Hydro-Tech Irrigation is seeking an experienced Irrigation Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing residential and commercial irrigation systems.
This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must have irrigation experience and hold a current Backflow Certification. Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

- Install, modify, and upgrade lawn sprinkler systems
- Troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems
- Diagnose and repair leaks, sprinkler heads, valves, controllers, wiring, and other irrigation components
- Install timers/controllers and rain sensors
- Perform seasonal system maintenance and repairs
- Explain irrigation system operation and maintenance to customers
- Communicate repair recommendations and solutions professionally
- Ensure customers receive exceptional service on every visit
- Diagnose and repair underground sprinkler and drip irrigation systems
- Dig and repair irrigation lines and components as needed
- Work safely outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Current Backflow Certification (Required)
- Minimum of 2 years of professional irrigation service and installation experience
- Strong knowledge of irrigation plumbing, hydraulics, controllers, valves, and electrical components
- Mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Strong communication skills in English
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, and lifting
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
Applicants must possess a current Backflow Certification. This is a mandatory qualification for this position. Candidates without an active Backflow Certification will not be considered.
