Electrical Field Service Technologist — Power Systems & Industrial Controls

Your day with JDC Power Systems
Sun up in the DMV. Your first stop: a facility with aging LV/MV switch gear that just tripped. You arrive prepared, run diagnostics with your relay test set, isolate a faulted breaker, review the PLC logic, and get operations back online with minimal downtime. By afternoon, you'll mentoring a junior tech on safe lockout/tagout and running a remote session to help another team interpret SCADA alarms.

That blend of autonomy, complexity, and customer interaction is the rhythm of an FSR2 at JDC Power Systems, LLC.

• Independently troubleshoot, service, and repair electrical infrastructure: transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switch gear, PLC-based controls, and related equipment.
• Diagnose issues on-site with limited oversight, driving uptime and efficiency for our customers.
• Execute inspections and performance tests to verify compliance with industry standards.
• Team up with senior technicians and engineers on complex calls, escalating when needed.

• Act as the face of JDC during service visits - translate technical findings into clear solutions and options.
• Capture thorough documentation: test results, troubleshooting steps, corrective actions, and system performance notes.

• Prioritize and complete multiple work orders with minimal supervision.
• Coordinate schedules, parts, tools, and resources with internal teams to hit deadlines.
• Maintain accurate records for service activities, inventory, time, and equipment usage.
• Leverage remote diagnostic tools; assist colleagues (junior and senior) with remote troubleshooting.

• Work in full compliance with company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and relevant codes.
• Perform site-specific safety assessments, flag hazards, and implement mitigations.
• Conduct tailboards/briefings and coach junior techs on safe work practices.

• Keep current on new technologies and industry best practices to elevate service quality.
• Recommend process enhancements that improve turnaround time and customer experience.
• Contribute to writing and refining SOPs and field best practices.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent required;
  Associate’s in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related technical field preferred.
• Certifications:
  
  NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or similar credentials are advantageous.

• 3-5 years in field service focusing on power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls.
• Proven track record troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing complex electrical systems/components.
• Familiarity with field service software/work order systems is a plus.
• Hands-on exposure to PLCs, SCADA, transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switch gear, and protective relays.

• Expert problem-solver able to resolve intricate technical issues independently.
• Fluent with electrical test tools and software (multimeters, relay test sets, diagnostics).
• Clear communicator—capable of explaining complex topics to customers and teammates.
• Excellent time management across multiple simultaneous service calls.
• Collaborative mindset and team orientation.

• Frequent travel with overnights to customer locations and JDC sites nationwide.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

• Experience working at both low- and medium-voltage levels.
• Foundational experience with PLCs, SCADA, and protective relays.
