PART TIME Manual Labor Sterling, VA, US
Salary Range: $17.13 To $17.13 Hourly
Summary/ObjectiveProvide various services such as wheelchair, security, and porter services, exhibiting exceptional customer service and communication skills. Ensure the safety of property and people.
Essential Functions- Agent must maintain communication with the supervisor on duty at all times and review the daily manning and assignment for the day.
- Provide wheelchair services: take the wheelchair to the assigned door, wait for passenger, ensure all security procedures are met, take passenger through customs and baggage claim to curb only, and return the wheelchair to its initial position after contact with supervisor.
- Provide security in various airport areas, including checkpoints, bag room, assigned gate, ramp, and airline counter.
- At checkpoints: greet passengers, verify boarding passes, ensure correct cities, priority classes, flight times, gate, baggage limits, and verify passing employees’ IDs.
- At bag room: verify valid stickers, remove stickers, record on control sheet, and ensure bags are accounted for.
- At gate: stand by jet bridge, watch both doors to prevent unauthorized entry, and record cleaner counts and flight times.
- At ramp: receive baggage cart, count bags before loading onto airplane, ensure no questionable items, and restrict access to authorized personnel only.
- Assist porters with waiting baggage, adding bag tags, and placing bags on the baggage belt.
- Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities.
This position is very active, requiring standing or walking constantly for up to an entire shift on various surfaces. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 70 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkFull-time or part-time. Days and hours vary from Monday through Sunday, with different shifts; service provided 24/7.
TravelNo travel is expected for this position.
RequiredEducation and Experience
High school diploma or GED.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications- Exceptional customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Successful completion of a background investigation and a post‑offer/pre‑employment drug/alcohol test.
- Ability to read, write and speak English and/or Spanish.
- Maintain a relationship with both employees and clients.
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner, using initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
- Ability to read and understand all operating and airport procedures and instructions.
- Ability to handle pressure while working with a high volume general public.
Eligible for CBP seal and pass the criminal background check to obtain the airport .
