Job Overview
R B Hinkle Construction Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced CDL Class A Driver to transport equipment, materials, and supplies to and from construction sites. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and timely execution of our projects.
Responsibilities- Safely operate commercial vehicles with a Class A CDL endorsement, including tractor‑trailers, dump trucks, and lowboy trailers.
- Transport heavy construction equipment (ex. excavators, bulldozers, loaders), aggregates, asphalt, and other materials to various job sites.
- Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, documenting any defects or maintenance needs.
- Load and unload equipment and materials, ensuring proper securing and weight distribution in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, vehicle inspection reports, and other required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, project managers, and other team members regarding schedules, deliveries, and potential issues.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on vehicles and equipment as needed (e.g. checking fluid levels, tire pressure).
- Assist with other construction‑related duties on job sites when not actively driving, as directed by supervisors.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience operating Class A commercial vehicles, preferably in the construction industry.
- Experience hauling heavy equipment and various construction materials.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing, lifting, bending, and securing loads.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced construction environment.
- Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.
