Training Consultant
Responsibilities
Teach certificate and associate degree courses in welding for the Mechanical Engineering Technology Program. The instructor will plan, organize, teach, and provide feedback to promote and direct student success. Respond to students in a timely manner and communicate with students, departments, and university officials via university-provided tools and resources.
Faculty members are expected to maintain a consistent, in-person presence on location throughout the standard workweek, available on-site each day to support students, collaborate with colleagues, and participate fully in the academic life of the institution. Regular on-site engagement during normal business hours is essential.
Required QualificationsAt least a high school diploma or GED.
At least five years of practical welding experience in one or more of the following categories:
- Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
- Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/Mig)
- Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
- Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/Tig)
- OSHA Safety
- Blueprint creation and reading
- Introductory or foundational-level knowledge/skills in robotic welding/numerically controlled cutting
Familiarity with AWS codes and safety standards.
American Welding Society (AWS) certification in at least one welding process.
Preferred Qualifications- Associate or bachelor’s degree in welding.
- Experience with basic robotic welding and automated 2D cutting.
- Certified Welding Educator (CWE) credentials.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credentials.
- National Coalition of Certification Centers’ NC3 Train-the-Trainer certification.
- Teaching experience and classroom management skills.
Typically Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.

Physical RequirementsThis position will perform sedentary work, involving exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other Sedentary criteria are met.
