Lecturer, AAS in Information Technology - Steubenville; Term

Responsibilities

Teaches courses in the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) program in Information Technology at Steubenville, part of the department of Computer Science, Information & Engineering Technology. Lecturer may cover operating systems, web technologies, programming, databases, networking, cybersecurity, and other related subjects. Contributions include teaching and student success, course delivery, curriculum development & support, and continued growth and quality of the IT AAS program.

Courses focus on applied and hands‑on computing such as programming, system configuration, networking, databases, and cybersecurity in classroom and labs.

Faculty members are expected to maintain a consistent, in‑person presence on site throughout the standard workweek, being available each day to support students, collaborate with colleagues, and participate fully in the academic life of the institution. Regular on‑site engagement during normal business hours is essential.

Plans, organizes, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success; responds to students in a timely manner; and communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university‑provided tools and resources.

Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.

A master’s degree in information technology, information systems, computer science, cybersecurity, software engineering, or a closely related field OR a master’s degree in another field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in computing, information technology, or a closely related discipline. Demonstrated knowledge and technical competence to teach in at least three of the following areas: programming (e.g., Python, Java, C++, or similar languages);

web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, web frameworks); computer networks; databases; cybersecurity; computer hardware; or operating systems.

Experience teaching college‑level courses in programming, web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, web frameworks), networking, operating systems, databases, cybersecurity, computer hardware. Industry certifications (CISCO CCNA, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA A+, Oracle Database Foundations). Industry experience in information technology, programming, web technologies, databases, networking, cybersecurity, or software development. Effective communication and collaboration. Commitment to student‑centered teaching and continuous improvement.

In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform sedentary work.

Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other Sedentary criteria are met.
