The Electrical Apprentice is responsible for assisting the electrical teams and ensuring that on all electricity networks are installed in a safe and professional manner, to a high standard and in accordance with Utility Line Method Statements. You will work safely at all times and ensure safety of all those working around them. You will conduct all works under the Supervision of qualified personnel.

- To work in a safe, efficient and competent manner.
- To carry out risk assessments of the workplace under supervision.
- To be suitably trained to carry out works within new substations and switch rooms and other relevant areas where fitting works are to be carried out.
- To act as a Competent Person as defined in the Utility Line Safety Rules under personal supervision.
- To review and understand work instructions prior to the commencement of operations under personal supervision.
- To carry out works within confined spaces, using established safety procedures under personal supervision.
- To have a thorough knowledge of electrical fitting procedures (up to and including 11kV) under personal supervision.
- To assist in carrying out HV fitting works in accordance with safe working practices and in compliance with the adopting DNO’s/IDNO’S codes of practice.
- To assist in carrying out LV fitting works in accordance with safe working practices and in compliance with the adopting DNO’s/IDNOS’S codes of practice.
- To ensure the fitting van is kept tidy and that replenishment of consumables is carried out as necessary.
- Leave the site in a safe and tidy condition on completion of work.
- Allow for substation access for installation of cables.
- Understand fully the requirements of all work instructions.
- Carry out audits and inspection of the workplace, tools, equipment and company vehicles.
- Report all accidents and near misses.
- Accurately record all work undertaken.
- Comply with the requirements of the formal Apprenticeship Program.
- Represent Utility Line in a professional manner at all times.
About you:
- GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4 or above
- You will need to live within the 20 miles of our Knebworth Office
- The ability to travel to your college provider and to your branch when required
- A genuine desire to learn and develop strong technical knowledge, including the skills, technology, and safety procedures needed to carry out the full range of tasks
- Ability to build and maintain positive customer and client relationships
