Overview
The Professional Writing/Publication Specialist will be hired at the rank of either an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) if the applicant has a completed Ph.D. or Teaching Assistant Professor (non-Tenure Track) if the applicant has a completed Masters degree. ABDs will be considered for the Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) rank. Questions regarding ABDs should be addressed with the Position Contact during the recruitment process.
ResponsibilitiesThe teaching load is twelve (12) credits per semester, which equates to four (4) courses per semester. Courses to be assigned from Professional Writing and Composition depending on need; including Grant and Proposal Writing, Business Writing, Outdoor Writing, and/or Writing for Digital Media, depending on experience. Course assignment distribution will typically be six (6) credits in composition and six (6) credits in the incumbents area of specialization each semester.
Aboutthe Department
The English Department is one of the largest academic units at Universities of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Some 17 faculty offer a full range of classes from first-year composition and humanities general education courses to upper-division literature, writing, and teacher education classes fulfilling the requirements of our major, minors, and certificates. Our commitment to teaching is of primary importance, but department members also manage to engage productively in a variety of scholarly and creative projects.
The department also houses the Cornerstone Press, one of the only undergraduate student-staffed publishing houses in the United States.
