Student Program Assistant – a student staff member in the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) to support programming, student engagement, and day‑to‑day center operations.

Position Overview

The Student Program Assistant works closely with the center coordinator to help first‑year and continuing students connect, build community, and achieve academic and personal success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support coordinator with planning and executing key programs per semester, completing organization of space reservations, materials, and marketing at least one week in advance.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly individual and staff meetings, sharing updates on outreach, engagement, and communications.
  • Assist with program set‑up, facilitation, and clean‑up.
  • Track attendance for 100% of center programs using university‑approved systems.
  • Collect participant feedback for at least 75% of programs through surveys or informal methods.
  • Promote upcoming programs through at least two university‑approved outreach methods (e.g., tabling, social media, SPIN, Navigate).
  • Document 100% of center programs through photos or videos with appropriate consent.
  • Update bulletin boards and in‑center displays at least biweekly.
  • Ensure all content aligns with university branding and standards for all posts and materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized space, completing at least one space check per shift and restocking supplies within 24–48 hours.
  • Submit post‑event reports and reflections within 3–5 days for all programs.
  • Assist in developing end‑of‑semester summaries or reports for the center.
  • Attend all required training and development sessions.
  • Set and track at least 2–3 personal leadership goals per semester.
  • Address or report student concerns (e.g., engagement, academic) within 24 hours to the center coordinator.
Qualifications
  • Good academic standing (2.5 GPA or higher).
  • At least sophomore standing.
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the UW‑SP campus and its resources.
  • Ability to address sensitive student concerns professionally, tactfully, and confidentially.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain professionalism.
  • Ability to foster an open, friendly, and engaging environment that supports diverse student needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin‑Stevens Point.
  • Prior experience as a mentor, tutor, or related leadership position.
  • Experience facilitating group discussions or presentations.
  • Experience planning events.
