Job Duties

While there may not be an immediate need for a lecturer in every area, UW-Stevens Point accepts applications to create a pool for future part‑time or full‑time lecturer opportunities.

Lecturers are hired on a per‑course basis each semester. Teaching one semester does not guarantee assignment the following semester. Teaching load ranges from 1–12 credits per semester.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Facilitate classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance.
  • Develop instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for students related to specific course content and expectations.
Department

The Department of Biology is part of the School of Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry in the College of Letters and Sciences. It is primarily housed in the Haeni Chemistry Biology Building and the Trainer Natural Resources Building on the UWSP main campus, with facilities on Wausau and Marshfield campuses. The department includes 20 full‑time faculty and focuses on teaching and research with undergraduate students.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in biology or a related discipline from an accredited institution (to instruct introductory biology laboratory sections).
  • Minimum master’s degree in biology or a related discipline from an accredited institution (to instruct biology courses).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Biology or a related discipline.
  • Experience in collaborative and/or inclusionary settings.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success.
  • Experience and evidence of success with college‑level instruction.
