Student Teaching Supervisor – School of Education (Continuous Recruitment)

Student Teaching Supervisors are responsible for supporting UWSP teacher candidates (including undergraduate and graduate level student teachers, interns, etc.) throughout their student teaching semester and completing the observation assessments outlined under PI-34.023 and required for licensure.

While there may not be an immediate need for a student teaching supervisor in every subject area and grade level, UW-Stevens Point (UWSP) accepts applications regardless, in order to create a pool for when there may be a need. Upon successful submission of your application, you will be considered for future student teaching supervisor opportunities, and your application will be on file as a potential candidate who could possibly fill a position if or when the need arises.

UWSP places student teachers across the entire state of Wisconsin. Supervision needs are based on the total number of teacher candidates, their license areas, and placement locations.

License areas requiring supervision include:

  • Early Childhood Education (4K-grade
    3)
  • Early Childhood Special Education (4K-grade
    3)
  • Elementary Education (K-9)
  • Special Education (K-12)
  • Physical and Health Education (K-12)
  • English Education (4-12)
  • Social Studies Education (4-12)
  • Mathematics Education (4-12)
  • Science Education (4-12)
  • English as a Second Language (K-12)
  • Spanish Education (K-12)
  • German Education (K-12)
  • Music Education (K-12)

Student Teaching Supervisors are hired on a per-student basis each semester, and supervising one semester does not guarantee being assigned the following semester.

Required Qualifications:
  • Earned master's degree (or equivalent experience) in an education-related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a licensed teacher in one of the areas listed above or as a licensed K-12 administrator
  • Hold a valid Wisconsin driver's license and be able to become an approved UWSP driver
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience mentoring early career educators and/or pre-service teachers
  • Strong digital communication skills (email and video conferencing)
