Accountability
Reports to the Coordinator of the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) within the Office for Culture and Student Development (OCSD) and works collaboratively with Multicultural Resource Center staff, student employees, and campus partners to support leadership development programming, media initiatives, and operational support within the center.
Scope of Responsibility
The Multicultural Resource Center Public Relations and Media Intern support the development, promotion, and coordination of programs and initiatives within the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) and the Office for Culture and Student Development (OCSD), which operates under the Dean of Students within Student Affairs. This role assists with event planning, podcast production, student storytelling initiatives, and the creation of media content for Multicultural Resource Center projects, including the MRC magazine and other communication materials.
Through this position, the intern will gain hands-on experience in leadership development programming, digital media production, event coordination, and multicultural center operations. The role supports initiatives that promote student belonging, engagement, and leadership development at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point.
Specific Duties
Leadership & Program Support
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing Multicultural Resource Center leadership programs, workshops, and on and off campus events
- Support collaborative initiatives with student organizations connected to the Multicultural Resource Center and the Office for Culture and Student Development
- Assist with outreach and engagement activities that promote student belonging and cultural awareness
- Support planning logistics for programs including room reservations, materials preparation, marketing, budgeting, and event promotion
- Assist in documenting program outcomes and participation data
Media & Communications
- Assist with editing and production of the Multicultural Resource Center podcast
- Support development of the Multicultural Resource Magazine, including editing student stories, assisting with layout concepts, and preparing publication content
- Assist in creating promotional materials for Multicultural Resource Center programs and initiatives
- Support storytelling initiatives that highlight student leadership and cultural experiences
- Help maintain digital media archives including photos, recordings, and promotional materials or platforms
Operational Support
- Assist with daily operations of the Multicultural Resource Center
- Help maintain organization of program supplies, event materials, and promotional items
- Assist with preparation of outreach materials such as flyers, brochures, and tabling resources
- Support the Multicultural Resource Center tabling events and campus outreach initiatives
- Assist in maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment for students visiting the center
Administrative Duties
- Participate in onboarding and training provided by the Multicultural Resource Center and the Office for Culture and Student Development to gain familiarity with departmental policies, procedures, and university expectations.
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings, program planning meetings, and training sessions as requested to stay informed about the Multicultural Resource Center initiatives, campus partnerships, and program development.
