The College of Natural Resources (CNR) at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has a full-time, tenure-track, nine-month academic year teaching (100%) position in the Forestry Discipline. The successful applicant will have expertise in forest biometrics, with the opportunity to develop and teach courses in forest and natural resource inventory and monitoring, computational modeling, and/or GIS/remote sensing in forestry and/or fire applications.

Additional teaching opportunities will depend on qualifications and may include CNR core curriculum (e.g., Introduction to Fisheries, Forestry, and Wildlife). The teaching load for full-time faculty is 12 credits per semester during the fall/spring academic year and 6 credits during summer. A minimum of 4 credits of the summer teaching will be assigned in the College’s Summer Field Experience, with at least 3 weeks of teaching at our Treehaven field station required.

Other duties include undergraduate and graduate student advising, service on University and College committees, and scholarship production including the engagement of undergraduates in research opportunities. Opportunities exist for involvement in established research, outreach, and international programs to meet University scholarship and service requirements. Experience in, and a desire to work with, an array of student learning experiences and backgrounds is expected.

• Teaching (80%) - Teach 12 credits per semester. Courses include forest and natural resource data analysis and natural resources and forest inventory. Potential to develop course(s) incorporating computational modeling, and GIS/remote sensing in forestry or fire applications.
• Research & Scholarship (10%) - Scholarly activity or ongoing professional engagement in natural resource data analysis or the use of advancing technology in forestry and natural resource modeling/monitoring. Secure funding to support scholarship and research activities.
• Service (10%) - Service in the College, University, and Professional organization is expected.

The Forestry Discipline is in the College of Natural Resources (CNR) at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) and is one of the largest undergraduate forestry programs in North America with more than 300 undergraduate majors in four options. All options are accredited by the Society of American Foresters. The CNR has approximately 1,550 undergraduates, 50 graduate students, and over 130 faculty and staff.

The College supports premier undergraduate natural resource programs with disciplines in Environment and Society, Fisheries and Water Resources, Forestry, Soil and Waste Resources, Wildlife Ecology, and the Department of Paper Science and Chemical Engineering.

The Assistant Professor of Forestry is a full-time, salaried, exempt, academic year (9-month), faculty position. Relocation assistance may be available.
