Overview

Position Title:

Student Athletic Event Lead (University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point). This leadership-focused student position assists with the planning, coordination, and execution of athletic events while providing oversight and support to event staff. The role helps ensure that home contests and special events are conducted professionally, safely, and in accordance with institutional, conference, and NCAA standards. This position offers hands-on experience in event management, leadership, communication, customer service, and athletic administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Event Operations: assist with the preparation, setup, and breakdown of athletic competitions and special events; ensure facilities are event-ready (signage placement, equipment setup, seating, and venue appearance); monitor event spaces to maintain safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency; support game-day functions including ticketing, crowd management, hospitality, and fan engagement; support concessions operations (preparing and selling food and beverages, handling cash and electronic transactions, maintaining inventory, and ensuring food safety and customer service standards);

    help oversee student staff assigned to ticketing and concessions to ensure efficient operations and a positive guest experience.
  • Leadership and Staff Coordination: serve as a lead point of contact for student event staff during assigned events; assist with training and mentoring new student workers; help assign responsibilities and ensure duties are completed; communicate event expectations and updates to student staff; escalate facility, safety, or operational concerns as needed.
  • Customer Service and Event

    Experience:

    provide exceptional customer service to student-athletes, coaches, officials, spectators, alumni, and campus visitors; assist with directing guests, answering questions, and resolving minor event-related concerns; contribute to a positive and welcoming environment at UW-Stevens Point athletic events.
  • Administrative Support: assist Athletics staff with event preparation, inventory management, and operational planning; maintain accurate records related to event staffing, equipment, and facility use when requested; attend required staff meetings and trainings.
Qualifications
  • Required
    :
    Must be enrolled as a student at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point; strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and accountability; dependable, punctual, and able to work independently; ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students, staff, and community members; willingness to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on athletic event schedules.
  • Preferred
    :
    Experience at athletic or campus events, customer service, or related leadership roles; interest in sports management, event management, recreation, business, communications, or athletics administration; familiarity with collegiate athletics and game-day operations; experience supervising peers or leading teams in work, volunteer, or student organization settings.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events; lift, carry, and move equipment up to 30 pounds; work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions; perform physical setup and teardown responsibilities.

Compensation

Hourly Wage: $12.00/hour
