Purpose of Position

The Laundry Attendant maintains a constant supply of clean linens for the hotel. Performs all stages of linen processing including collecting, transporting, sorting, loading, and unloading washers and dryers. Cleans laundry machinery and laundry area.

Essential Functions
  • Possess a positive and upbeat personality with a desire to deliver outstanding customer service to our guests.
  • Maintain a high level of professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all areas.
  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented and be able to problem-solve to effectively deal with internal and external customers.
  • Understand the operation of washing machines and dryers.
  • Wash and dry all dirty linens, towels and rags, as directed by management.
  • Spot treat any stained linen as needed.
  • Clean dryer filter after every 3 loads and maintain all equipment as trained.
  • Neatly fold linens and stock linen carts, shelves, and storage rooms as required.
  • Sweep and mop laundry floors keeping laundry room and storage areas safe and clean at all times.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills and convey information and ideas.
  • Recognize and take action on any safety or loss prevention incidents that may cause damage, injury, or other liability to individuals or company property. Implement all company policies and procedures for safety and security.
  • Complete training in all areas of security, alcohol, and health and safety. Ensuring that all OSHA, State, and Federal guidelines for chemical, fire, health, and safety are followed. Keeping safety in mind in all things.
  • Participate in and support a positive, enjoyable work environment.

Position Requirements Mandatory

Job Requirements
  • Ability to communicate with hotel staff, guests, and management in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to learn safety, emergency, and accident prevention policies and procedures.
  • Neat, well-groomed appearance including wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working (per brand standards).
Accountability
  • Maintains a high level of quality, service, and cleanliness.
  • Maintains smooth operation in the laundry with a high level of quality, service, and cleanliness.
  • Handle laundry equipment according to programmed cycles.
  • Follow all state and federal guidelines including OSHA Hazardous Communication Training.
  • Communicates openly with direct supervisor.
Experience or Training Required
  • High school education.
Marginal Job Functions
  • Cleaning guestrooms, breakroom, employee restroom and lobby, and public areas as needed.
  • Deliver cribs, towels, or other items to guestrooms as requested.
  • Report any maintenance issues to Head Housekeeper.
  • Turn in all lost and found items to Head Housekeeper.
Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel, for long periods, up to 8 hours at a time. Reach with hands and arms. Walk, navigate stairs regularly.
  • Continuously repeat the same movements, including bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pulling, pushing, stretching.
  • Understand the speech of other people, and speak clearly so others can understand.
  • Read and see details.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally; lift up to 50 pounds from time to time.

The job is considered inside; the employees will spend 75% or more of their time inside. Must be able to communicate well with others, effectively deal with guests and accept constructive criticism.
