Job Description & How to Apply Below

We’re seeking an experienced HR Manager to provide hands‑on people leadership at our Stevens Point paper mill. This role is ideal for an HR professional who values visibility, trust‑building, and real partnership with operations.

At Stevens Point, HR is part of the mill—not on the sidelines. You’ll be on the floor, working closely with leaders, supervisors, hourly employees, and union representatives to support safe operations, workforce stability, and strong labor relations.

What You’ll Do
  • Act as the primary HR business partner to mill leadership, providing guidance on employee relations, labor relations, performance management, and workforce planning
  • Support labor relations activities, including administration of the collective bargaining agreement, grievance handling, investigations, and preparation for negotiations (with escalation support as needed)
  • Lead employee relations matters across hourly and salaried populations, including investigations, corrective action, performance improvement, and separations
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
  • Partner with leaders on hiring, onboarding, engagement, development, and succession planning
  • Support site‑level change initiatives and operational improvements
  • Maintain a strong, visible presence on the mill floor
What Success Looks Like
  • Leaders view HR as a trusted, practical partner
  • Employee issues are addressed fairly, consistently, and promptly
  • Labor relationships are stable and constructive
  • The workforce feels supported and respected
What You Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations and employment law
  • Ability to work effectively in a hands‑on mill environment

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting a unionized workforce
  • Background in paper, pulp, or heavy manufacturing
