Position Summary
The Universal Banker responsibility is to help deepen customer relationships, attract additional customers and improve customer service. This position is primarily responsible for assisting with opening new deposits, selling additional products to customers and prospects and supporting the overall sales efforts of the bank. It includes teller services as well as helping customers with problem resolution, maintenance changes and opening and closing safe deposit boxes.
The position will also be responsible for completing sales activities to help attract new customers, including originating letters to be sent to customers and prospects, soliciting banking relationships, developing prospect lists, and other tasks as requested by the Branch Manager.

- Assist walk‑in customers with their new account needs, including checking, savings, certificates, and IRAs as a backup to Relationship Banker. Understand the various products the bank offers and explain their value.
- Assist walk‑in and phone customers with problems or service issues related to their accounts.
- Sales activities: cross‑sell and refer customers and prospects to bank accounts, meeting set goals.
- Assist with product promotions as the bank introduces various promotions throughout the year.
- Contact customers by phone to ask about account relationships when needed.
- Perform paying and receiving functions for customers, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and selling cashier checks, money orders, gift cards, and related services.
- Understand and comply with relevant laws and compliance regulations, such as bank secrecy act, privacy, and funds availability policy.
- Provide a high level of customer service by understanding customer needs and bank products.
- Support customers with maintenance questions such as address changes and check orders.
- Promote electronic delivery products and assist with online and mobile banking.
- Support the overall sales effort and meet direct sales goals for items such as debit cards, direct deposit, automated banking, or referrals.
- Assist with individual sales goals and participate in retail product campaigns.
- Refer customers to appropriate departments within the bank for product and service needs.
- Assist in other bank activities and support of other employees as requested.
- Active involvement in the community.
- Follow all procedures and policies ensuring compliance with bank policies and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Comply with bank standards for attendance and hours of work.
High School diploma or equivalent. Two‑three years of customer service or teller experience.
