At-Risk Teen Mentor Boys & Girls Club of Portage County Portage County, WIPart-Time | Flexible Scheduling Make a Difference in a Young Person's Life The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County (BGCPC) is seeking caring, dependable, and motivated individuals to join our team as At-Risk Teen Mentors. If you're passionate about helping youth overcome challenges, build confidence, and reach their full potential, we'd love to hear from you.

Flexible scheduling is available between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM, Monday through Thursday.

About UsThe mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County is "To inspire and empower our youth to realize their full potential."Through our Gateway Report Center, Youth Enrichment Services Program, and Truancy Abatement Program, we provide support and intervention services that help youth break the cycle of risky behavior. Our programs focus on helping young people develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to become productive, responsible, and caring members of the community.

Position Summary The At-Risk Teen Mentor provides direct support and mentorship to youth participating in BGCPC special initiative programs. This position is responsible for facilitating activities, supporting behavior management, fostering positive relationships, and creating a safe and engaging environment where youth can grow and succeed.

Key Responsibilities Create meaningful programs focused on education, health and wellness, life skills, leadership, and character development

Promote youth engagement and participation in programs and activities

Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and productive environment

Lead daily activities, weekly programs, special events, and community service opportunities

Ensure programs and activities occur as scheduled

Serve as a positive role model and mentor for youth both inside and outside the Club Enforce program and behavior expectations consistently and appropriately

Collect program outcome data as requested

Assist with court documentation and case notes when necessary

Follow daily and weekly cleaning procedures

Encourage youth to contribute to maintaining a clean and organized Club environment

Support fellow staff in achieving program goals and outcomes

Build positive relationships with youth and families from diverse backgrounds

Attend staff meetings, trainings, and performance evaluations

Participate in field trips, special events, and community-based activities

Assist with parent meetings as needed

Transport youth to and from school, events, and other approved locations when necessary

Complete additional duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director Qualifications Required Valid  driver's license

Ability to pass a background check and reference check

Strong organizational skills and professionalism

Ability to work effectively with youth, families, staff, and community members

Positive attitude and strong commitment to mentoring youth

Preferred

Previous experience working with teens or youth

First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification

Experience managing behavior and motivating youth participation

Skills & Competencies Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to build rapport with youth from diverse backgrounds

Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

Team-oriented mindset

Dependable and adaptable in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds

Ability to work in environments with elevated noise levels for extended periods
