Stevens Point Country Club is now accepting applications for the role of assistant in training. Stevens Point Country Club is an 18 hole private golf club located in Stevens Point, WI. Originally constructed in 1925, SPCC underwent a redesign and renovation in 2017 giving the course a unique blend of parkland and links style golf. The golf course presents its members with exceptional conditioned bent grass tees, greens, approaches, and fairways.
This position will be involved in all aspects of managing the golf course and staff under the direction and in coordination with the superintendent and lead assistant superintendent. This is a year-round position and a great opportunity for someone looking to advance their career. The responsibilities are included but not limited to:
Golf course set up
Leading and directing daily crew operations
Planning and executing fertilizer and chemical applications
Moisture monitoring and irrigation scheduling
Irrigation repair and troubleshooting
Leading and participating in daily maintenance
Assist with equipment maintenance
Snow removal in the off-season
Current students and those graduating in May are encouraged to apply.
This position will have varying hours as well as weekend work. A favorable weekend and holiday schedule will be implemented to assure a quality work/life balance. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. May be exposed to inclement weather, potentially dangerous chemicals, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers, misdirected golf balls, sharp and rapid equipment movement on a daily basis. Injury may result as a result of exposure to the above if safety policies and practices are not properly followed.
Compensation:
$20/Hr
Requirements:
Golf course maintenance is preferred
Certificate or Associates degree preferred
Positive attitude and the desire to succeed in the industry
Sharp eye for detail
The ability to push/pull/lift/and or move up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
Confidence in decision making in the absence of the superintendent
Basic understanding of the game of golf in relation to course conditioning
