Position: Taxpayer Services Technician/Taxpayer Services Technician, Senior (Public Service Representative)

JOB SPECIFICS

The Taxpayer Services Division of the Property Records and Taxpayer Services Department is seeking a customer-focused professional who is well-suited to a collaborative, professional environment with periods of busy customer activity and steady workflow. As part of a supportive and dedicated team, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality service to the public.

This position is primarily focused on providing in‑person service at the customer counter. Responsibilities include assisting customers with a variety of transactions, such as property tax payment collections, issuing birth, death, and marriage records, greeting and assisting customers at the service counter, processing mail‑in requests, and ensuring accurate and efficient completion of transactions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Respond to customer inquiries for various legal document‑related processes and services.
  • Make referrals to other departments as necessary.
  • Answer phone call inquiries by providing information or directing calls.
  • Review and process legal documents, applications, and forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Research, analyze and verify records, reports, applications and other documents.
  • Conduct searches or communicate with representatives in other divisions or government agencies.
  • Adhere to statutes, laws, and regulations; clarify interpretations of statutes, laws, and regulations.
  • Collect, enter, scan, proof, edit, correct and verify data in computer systems with or without established procedures.
  • Process, sort, check for accuracy and file department materials including forms, reports, licenses, certificates, deeds, applications, orders, vouchers, documents, and legal instruments.
  • Process transactions, collect fees, and handle over payments.
  • Collect and record a variety of receipts and disbursements for various funds.
  • Compile data and calculate various financial statistical reports.
  • Prepare memos, correspondence, forms, statistical data, reports; proof for accuracy and make corrections.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Prepare, maintain and file records.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
  • Experience providing customer service in a public‑facing or similar environment involving direct interaction with the public (government experience helpful but not required).
  • Experience handling payments or transactions, including receiving payments, issuing receipts, and balancing a cash drawer or daily transactions.
  • Experience performing work requiring accuracy in data entry, transaction processing, or review of information for errors.
  • Experience using computer systems or web‑based applications to enter information, process transactions, or retrieve customer records.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum:
    High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience with customer service, financial reporting, and database management is preferred.
