Provide scheduled individual and small-group reading intervention to students in grades 6-8 using an evidence-based, structured literacy curriculum. Implement lessons and instructional routines consistently under the direction of licensed staff. Support students in developing foundational reading skills, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence as readers. Build positive relationships that encourage students to persist through challenging learning. Collect and accurately record student performance and progress-monitoring data.
Communicate student progress, engagement, and areas of concern to supervising teachers and intervention staff. Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, literacy specialists, and administrators to align intervention with student needs and building-wide literacy goals. Maintain an organized, focused, and welcoming learning environment. Participate in relevant training, team meetings, and professional learning. Assist with other academic support and student supervision responsibilities as assigned.
Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with middle school students. Calm, consistent presence with strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills. Understanding of adolescent development and restorative practices. Firm yet empathetic approach to supporting student behavior. Ability to work independently while maintaining clear expectations. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff. Help us create a safe, supportive learning environment where all students can thrive!
In order to work as a Paraprofessional, you must meet the state requirement of being Highly Qualified prior to your start date. To be considered Highly Qualified, you must have ONE of the following; a Bachelor's Degree or an Associates Degree, or 60+ hours of post-secondary education, or a Passing Score on the Para Pro Exam. Please be prepared to submit documentation in support of your qualifications.
(Acceptable documentation includes transcripts from the college or a copy of the Para Pro Exam report.) Hours per day: 4.4 hours per day, Monday
