Special Education Teacher Long Term Substitute (Cross Categorical)
Job Summary
This role monitors and coordinates the educational needs of an assigned caseload of students, ensuring IEP services are implemented effectively and student progress is monitored. This position offers flexibility and professional autonomy, allowing the teacher to build and adjust their schedule based on student needs, IEP services, and building priorities. The role includes collaboration with families, general education teachers, service providers, and support staff to ensure students receive appropriate and meaningful support.
FTE/Hoursper Day: 1.0 FTE
Start and End dates subject to change 8/17/26 - 9/17/26 or the return of the incumbent teacher
QualificationsAn SLD, ABS or EBD licensure issued by the State of Minnesota
Preferred Qualifications- Demonstrated pattern of exceptional attendance
- Demonstrated pattern of working effectively and building positive relationships with colleagues and parents
- Demonstrated pattern of building positive relationships with students coupled with consistent and powerful teaching strategies.
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Masters Degree preferred.

Salary/Wage InformationAs per the SCEA Master Contract, $55,880 - $105,432 (based on 1.0 FTE, to be prorated based on assignment length) is the salary range. This substitute may be assigned through Kelly Services for a flat rate per day amount.
Duties And Responsibilities- Designs and implements instructional plans, aligned with district standards and curriculum, tailored and appropriate to the subject area(s) and unique needs of assigned students.
- Reviews, selects, and modifies materials and resources to carry out the curriculum plan.
- Accommodates delivery of instruction and assessment to in accordance with the students unique learning strengths and challenges
- Instructs students in a manner which consistently incorporates best teaching practices.
- Coordinates the instruction and related service in the student's IEP and to serve as the primary contact for the parent
- Develops annual education plans (IEP) for students to include present levels of performance, educational needs, goals and objectives and general and special educational services.
- Assures compliance with procedural requirements, communicating and coordinating among home, school and other agencies, and between general and special education programs; and scheduling and facilitating team meetings
- Coordinates due process procedures according to TSES (Total Special Education System).
- Maintains various required records and data according to established policies and procedures, ensuring the accurate and timely availability of such information as needed.
- Establishes and sustains positive, mutually-respectful and appropriate relationships with students in all settings.
