The Community Service Officer is a non-certified uniformed (but not armed) member of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. This position is required to perform non-hazardous duties that relate to public safety with the primary responsibility to promote a safe and healthy atmosphere in the community.
Minimum Qualifications- High School graduate or the equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's license or equivalent out-of-state driver’s license or ability to obtain one by time of hire.
- Enrolled, attending, or completed school for law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field.
- Must enroll in a POST-approved (Peace Officer Standards and Training) law enforcement program by the date of appointment and maintain enrollment through graduation. The position is a transition into Deputy Sheriff; a community service officer must qualify and be appointed as a Deputy Sheriff within the anniversary date of four‑year service in this class.

Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted, and the top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.
Hours / DaysApproximately 20 hours per week and no more than 67 days per year. Flexible days and hours based on CSO and department needs, including weekends.
Anticipated Hiring Range$24.71 hourly.

- Handle animal complaints, including investigating complaints, impounding animals, and citing owners in violation of city code.
